Miranda's designs embrace a balance of control and chaos, and it is reflected in collections that have been inspired by both the perfect and imperfect aspects the natural world.
She found her calling after enrolling in the Jewellery Arts Program at George Brown College in Toronto. Since graduating in 2010, she has worked as a professional goldsmith, first under the guidance of Master Goldsmith Steve Luckwaldt, and then independently. In 2014 she opened her own store and studio, Alchemy House, which she co-owns with fellow jeweler Talia Pennachetti. In addition to her goldsmithing abilities, Miranda also teaches workshops, and is currently learning the art of lapidary (the cutting and shaping of gemstones.)
The name Van Raay is homage to her mother's birth name.
